Natural Stone

Natural

Created during the formation of the Earth, these stones are quarried from sites all over the globe. Modern day techniques are used alongside traditional skills to cut, hone and polish these tiles, they are perfected by artisans using the natural colours, pigments and textures of the material.
Lemon Marble

Marble

Normally fairly large tiles, ideal for creating classically elegant and opulent bathrooms. Stylish but expensive so one way to lower costs is to use simulated marble field tiles finished with genuine borders or dados as visual accents. These tiles must be sealed.

Natural Slate

Slate

Originates from petrified mud with some verities as hard as granite and others as soft as marble. It has a slightly ridged surface, which makes the harder species ideal for flooring. Slate tiles come in many surprising colours such as green, grey or blue and they often installed in quilt like patterns - These tiles must be sealed.

Types of tiles

No matter where you want to tile, be it a splash back, behind a basin or a complete bathroom the choice of tiles, colours and sizes, is vast.

Not all tiles absorb the same amount of water so it is important to ascertain which tile is best for which area.

Tiles that are water resistant are glazed and those that are not are regarded as unglazed.

Impervious tiles should be used around baths and in showers and will not absorb moisture.

Semi impervious is low absorption and can be used near sinks, as splash backs and in most showers.

The most highly absorbent are non-vitreous and are not suitable for wet areas, sinks or countertops.

Terrocotta (Mosaic) Polished Porcelain Ceramics
Terrocotta (Mosaic)

Terracotta

Made from natural clay and not normally suitable for outside use. Will need sealing prior to installation. Perfect for the rustic rural look.

Polished Porcelain

Porcelain

Porcelain tiles are now firmly established favourites for domestic or commercial tiling projects, suitable for floors or walls. They are especially suitable for lying outside due to their low porosity and dense impervious structure that makes them resistant to frost. Polished porcelain will need sealing before and after grouting.

Ceramics

Glazed Ceramic

Suitable for walls or floors, kitchen and bathrooms, tough and durable, ceramic tiles will endure a lifetime of use, tolerant to chipping and staining provided they are installed and maintained correctly, one of the key characteristics is the way they react to the temperature of the room - they will feel warm in the winter and stay cooler during the summer months. Hundreds of colours and patterns to choose from.
